“Well OP, that’s because people like to see certain idea being put on paper by another artist!”

“It isn’t wasted money, the artist has put effort on it, the customer liked it, so it’s worth the money!”

“You shouldn’t be telling people what to do with their money”

“It’s always fun to see what kind of ideas an artist you admire will come up with!”

Then you understand why some people like adoptables that much. Isn’t it fun to get someone from an artist you admire- and keep it? And use it- with permission? Have you ever admired the ideas your favourite artist comes up with? The same arguments against buying adoptables can be used against art in general too. (“people shouldn’t be paying like, 200$ for one piece! art isn’t even a real job!”) I personally would never pay real money (not even dA points) for one, but I understand the fact that not everyone is good at coming up with ideas, making creative designs, or putting their ideas on paper. And if they have the money and don’t mind paying five dollars (actually, most of times adoptables are rather cheap, and only reach 200$-300$ when a popular artists auctions it) for buying the rights of someone else’s idea with permission and in a harmless, legal way, well then. Unless it is getting on your way.

TL;DR- Adoptables are not my thing, and feel free to disagree, but I personally think that going all “It’s wasted money, it’s not creative, stop it!” is more like “WAAH WAHH STOP LIKING SOMETHING I DON’T LIKE, STOP SPENDING YOUR OWN MONEY IN A WAY I DON’T WANT TO!”

{i think it’s obvious but a big part of tumblr apparently can’t take jokes/sarcasm? so please remember that the picture is just a comparison to the arguments against adoptables, it’s not meant to be taken seriously.}

Using your logic you should never go to a restraunt, never buy premade pizzas, fish and chips, muffins when you can make it yourself so you shouldnt waste money on food made by other people or don’t buy a book beacuse you can write your own stories, don’t buy clothes because you can make them yourself, stop being so stupid, for some people art is a carer the same as cheffs, why would you try to stop someone from getting money? Jelous because no1 will ever pay you 2 draw something? I commission people because I like THEIR style and I want one of my characters or myself drawn in THEIR style, the style only THEY can do.
